I’ve been hearing a lot about salt therapy spas from my friends in California. So when I caught wind that a salt therapy location was opening in Sarasota, I was curious to see what it's all about. Let's start with the basics: Salt Therapy (Halotherapy) is a holistic treatment in a man-made salt room, which reproduces the unique microclimate found in natural salt caves. Salt Therapy is effective in treating a variety of upper and lower respiratory tract disorders and skin conditions such as asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, cystic fibrosis, eczema and psoriasis.
A friend of mine who suffers from stress and anxiety told me she got the best worry-free sleep ever after visiting a salt therapy spa. That was enough for me to give it a try. Who doesn't want to sleep better and wake up feeling refreshed?
My Experience at Salt of the Earth
What does Salt of the Earth offer: Salt of the Earth Offers multiple ways to benefit from Salt Therapy. You can choose Salt Room, Salt Bed, Kids Room, and Halo Booth. Prices start at $45 but buying multi-session packages can reduce the price. Mention Siesta Key Concierge to get 15% off your first treatment.
How does it work? When you breathe in the salt-enriched air, it removes airborne pollen and loosens the mucus, which begins to clear quickly, and inflammation is reduced. This allows you to breathe easier, and helps the body restore itself.
How did it feel when I was in the Salt Room? The moment I entered the tranquil room I immediately felt relaxed. The recliner chairs were extremely comfortable. I sat back and felt the Himalayan salt being absorbed into my skin and lungs for about 45 minutes while meditating and trying to turn my brain off. The air was so pure I wanted to take deep breaths to fill my lungs. I also tried the heated salt bed. It felt so good on my back and sore muscles. You only need 25 minutes in the salt bed.
Would I go again? In the end I would (and probably will) keep going back to really get the maximum benefits that salt therapy claims to offer. It was definitely relaxing and it’s worth trying for the experience alone, regardless of whether you suffer from any of the ailments it is meant to target. It was fun, and at $45 (pretty affordable), I got a great night's sleep. I might consider buying a salt lamp for the side of my bed.
How many people are in the treatment room? The adult salt therapy relaxation room has 10 chairs.
What should I wear to salt therapy? Wear comfortable clothes to salt therapy, so you can kick back and truly enjoy a relaxing environment. Shoes are not permitted in the treatment rooms, so please bring clean socks. They have complimentary socks if you do forget.
Is Salt Therapy Safe for Pregnant Mothers? As a natural therapy, pregnant mothers can treat themselves to halotherapy without worrying about taking drugs that might affect the health of their babies. Rather than rely on over-the-counter medications for asthma, allergies, sinusitis, or chronic skin conditions such as eczema, they can relieve their symptoms by inhaling all natural and pure Himalayan salt in a safe and relaxing environment.
